If you’re one of these people that struggle through a cardio session then we definitely hang out at the same club! It really can get boring and put a downer on your whole workout if it’s something you don’t enjoy. I can’t say everyone feels the same way about it, but the more people I work with, the more I’m asked how to make it fun? These are my top 5 tips to making cardio enjoyable and something to look forward to. After all, if we want to make being active part of our lifestyle, then we need to actually enjoy it to make it part of our lives.
1. GET OUTSIDE
Being stuck on a treadmill or any piece of cardio equipment can really start to get to you after a while. I’ve been there way too many times! When the weather is nice just get outside and enjoy your surroundings. It’s so nice to breathe in the fresh air and remove yourself from the gym when you can.
2. FIND A WALKING BUDDY
Having a friend or family member with you makes keeping active so much more enjoyable, and helps to keep you motivated. You can even get your whole family involved in going for walks regularly on a nice scenic track somewhere. The more people, the better!
Spend some time getting your favourite music together on your IPod or MP3 player. Music makes everything better including cardio! It’s best motivator on the planet in my books!
4. INTERVAL TRAINING
Cut your cardio time in half!! Interval training is one of the best ways to get the most out of your time. 15-20 minutes is all you need to knock over an excellent cardio workout.
5. JOIN A CLASS
Joining a class like spin, pump, boxing or body attack can make your boring cardio sessions so much more fun. You get to meet new people, surround yourself in a motivational environment and even have an instructor to push you to your limits! Best of all you can change up classes you want to take so you never get bored! Most gym memberships include these classes anyway, so why not make the most of it!!
